  • Tags vanish during edits. Copy-pasting between posts, theme migrations, and plugins that rewrite URLs all strip tags. Re-check after any big site change.
  • A working link is not a paying link. The only way to know a link credits you is to confirm the tag= parameter is present and correct.
  • Short links can’t be verified offline. amzn.to and a.co redirect elsewhere, so expand them first, then check the destination URL.
  • Watch for tag typos. One wrong character in your tracking ID sends the commission to a tag that isn’t yours. Confirm it matches your Associates account exactly.

The link points to a valid product but has no affiliate tracking tag, so Amazon can’t attribute the sale to you. The reader can still buy, but you earn nothing. Add your tag to fix it.
Why do affiliate tags disappear?
Common causes: copy-pasting a link that lost its parameters, site or link-manager migrations, caching or “link cleaner” plugins that strip query strings, and manual edits. Tags are fragile, which is why audits matter.
Does it check stock or 404s?
