Why it matters

ProductReview ships a real Model Context Protocol server built into your site. Connect Claude (or any MCP client) with a one-time token and it can operate the plugin conversationally: read your boxes, search Amazon, read your analytics, generate shortcodes, and, in read-write mode, create draft boxes, set manual ratings and label products.

It exposes 11 tools. Read: status, list boxes, get a box, search products, list cached products, get analytics, and generate a shortcode. No competitor in this category lets an assistant build product displays and read your affiliate performance in plain English.

It is safe by design: off by default, opt into read-only or read-write, the token is stored only as a hash and bound to one WordPress user, every tool is on a per-tool allow-list, calls are rate-limited and audited, and there are deliberately no delete or publish tools. Anything the AI creates is a draft a human reviews and publishes.

Tips & insights

  • Start in read-only mode to explore. You can read boxes, analytics and search results with zero risk of changes.
  • Because writes are drafts-only, the AI can never publish or delete. Treat it as a fast assistant, then review and publish yourself.
  • Use it for the tedious stuff: “create draft boxes for these ten ASINs with my default style” is one sentence instead of ten screens.
  • The audit log keeps the last calls, so you can always see exactly what the connector did.

What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude securely call tools on external systems. ProductReview implements an MCP server, so an assistant can operate the plugin on your site.
Which AI clients can connect?
Any MCP-compatible client, including Claude and Claude Code. You add your site’s MCP URL and a token as a connector.
Can the AI publish or delete things?
No, by design. There are deliberately no publish or delete tools. Anything it creates is a draft that a human must review and publish. That guardrail is not optional.
What exactly can it do?
Eleven tools: read your status, boxes, products, analytics and search Amazon and generate shortcodes; and, in read-write mode, create draft boxes, update boxes, set manual ratings and set product labels.
Is it secure?
Yes. It is off by default, requires a bearer token stored only as a hash and bound to one user, uses a per-tool allow-list, is rate-limited, and logs its calls. You choose read-only or read-write.
Do I have to enable write access?
No. Read-only mode lets the assistant read and suggest without changing anything. Enable read-write only when you want it to draft boxes and set ratings for you.
Is there a rate limit?
Yes, requests are rate-limited to protect your site, and the connector keeps an audit log of recent calls.
Does using the connector cost extra?
The MCP server is part of the plugin. You just need an MCP-capable AI client on your side.
Can I revoke access?
Yes. Disable the server or rotate the token at any time, and the connector immediately stops working.
